- There are many different impacts on the family of an addicted person. First example of an impact to a family is that the children in the family are taken away by the government and are taken to a foster home which is similar to what happened to April and Cheryl Raintree. Another example of a family impact is the complete loss or breakdown of the family which means that the person who has addiction maybe dying or suffering from a serious illness/disease.

Everything is geared towards getting the dependence met, and the deeper into addiction the greater the selfishness. Addictive behaviors eventually become a source of concern for others. Consequently, in order to meet the needs of the addiction, addicts often hide their behaviors from others.
Addicts often have to engage in dangerous behaviors to satisfy their needs, as happened so many times with April's parents, when they were drunk and putting the safety of their daugthers at risk.
